Can Gazza regain glory with Clarets?
Will Gascoigne's move prove successful?
Paul Gascoigne has left Everton to help First Division Burnley in their push for promotion.

Can the midfield maestro work his magic at Turf Moor?

HAVE YOUR SAY

Despite an attempt by new Everton boss David Moyes to persuade him to stay, Gascoigne has followed ex-manager Walter Smith out of the Goodison Park exit door.

The former England international has had a tempestuous time on and off the pitch over recent years, but will be hoping to play a key part in the Clarets' bid for the Premiership.

At 34 years old, it may be a final throw of the dice for Gascoigne, who has been hampered by injury, to regain his form and get back to winning ways.

Can Gascoigne find success at Burnley?

HAVE YOUR SAY

The signing of Gascoigne is a no loose situation. At worst he is going to bring in extra money to Burnley (through gate money, shirt sales). Him coming, is a much needed lift to our stuttering promotion drive.
Ian Clough, UK

First Ian Wright and now Gazza. Thank you Stan. Gazza is just what we need at this stage, something a bit special to boost us up into the the Premiership. Come on Burnley, come on Gazza!
Russell Foster, UK/NZ

How anyone can argue that signing Gazza is a bad move for Burnley is beyond me. Gascoigne, in my opinion, remains a Premiership-class player and, though he may have lost a great deal of pace, has skill and technique.

I believe he will do a good job for the Clarets and, hopefully, help them win promotion to the Premiership. As a fan of Leeds, a big club who were exiled to the lower leagues in the 1980s, I hope Burnley win promotion as they are a big club with good support.
Robert Fussey, United Kingdom

His heart may still be in the game (yet to be proved), but his legs aren't
John Evan-Jones, Denmark

Burnley love heroes and know how to treat them. Gazza will be in the Premiership next season with Burnley - just watch and be excited!
Duncan Walker, London, UK

I'm a lover of The Clarets and a fan of Gazza too...promotion will be guaranteed, with the things that he can do!
Keith Tunnicliffe, UK

You must be joking! His heart may still be in the game (yet to be proved), but his legs aren't. We all hope for miracles and nobody loves the roar of the crowd more than Gazza, but I'm afraid that it's now that Gazza called "time".
John Evan-Jones, Denmark

I am a diehard Gazza fan, but even I must admit Gazza's glory days are gone. To my mind there has not been a more graceful and charismatic player in the Premiership than Gazza (Ginola is up there). It is best for him to retire on a high note rather than moving down to the Nationwide First Division.
Hussain, USA

The greatest playing talent of the last 10 years or so without any doubt - unfulfilled in the final analysis. No top level honours to match his talents (sorry, Rangers - you only have to beat one team to win your titles).

I think Gazza should quit while he's ahead
Jamie Steele, UK

I want him to experience success and prove Glenn Hoddle wrong and maybe even remind Sven of what he can do that nobody else in the squad can even think about. But why does he have to go to Burnley? Oh well, good luck Gazza - but not too much!
Dominic, Blackburn, England

If Gazza wants a full-time job we can guarantee it here in the good old USA.
Tom, USA

I think Gazza will play well for Burnley for the rest of the season and hopefully Burnley can keep him in the team next season.
John Shapcott, Burnley

I think Gazza's legs have had it, he should quit while he's ahead.
Jamie Steele, UK

Brilliant is about the only word I can use to describe this signing. Who would have thought 10 years ago that we would be signing Gazza. I can't believe it still, can somebody tell me I'm not dreaming!
Chris Denbigh, Australia

Will Gazza's presence promote Burnley to Premiership? Well, NO. Three teams going up this season - Man City, Wolves and Coventry. Better luck next season to all the Burnley fans.
Yagya, USA

Given the right manager, he has still the talent to be a world-beater
George Laing, Scotland

Gazza will bring that extra something (as those on Pop Idols would say, that extra thing that you can't put your finger on) that will help us Clarets push for promotion. Pity we won't be having a derby with Rovers next year - considering they're on their way down.
Jack, Burnley, England

Gazza is the greatest (English) football talent to grace a football pitch since Sir Stanley Matthews. Given the right manager, he has still the talent and, hopefully, the maturity, to be a world-beater once more.
George Laing, Scotland

Gazza is a star he will be back to show his magic with Burnley. I only wish was he was back with my team Rangers.
Andrew Wodehouse, Scotland

As a lifelong Clarets fan and also a big fan of Stan Ternent I think Gazza's move to Turf Moor will be beneficial to both player and club. Ask Ian Wright and he'll tell you Burnley is a great place to play. The fans will love Gazza and because of the great team spirit Gazza will have a much needed smile on his face. Don't be surprised if Gazza stays at Burnley next season if mission premier league is accomplished.
Phil Bardsley, UK

Gazza is still a great talent, and if he's revved up for it anything can happen.
Mike, UK

Come on Sven, Gazza is better than most of the players you keep fielding!
Dave Y, England

Gascoigne's move to Burnley is perhaps one that will suit the player. After all, his best performances this season - the ones which lead to a mini 'Gazza for England' campaign - have been delivered in cup games against teams in the lower divisions. At the season's end don't be surprised to see him at Rushden or such a relatively rich Second or Third Division club. I wish him luck anyway.
D Blount, England

Glenn Hoddle is the fool responsible for Gazza's ruined international career. Whenever I watch that Argentina match from 98 it becomes very obvious that we missed the most useful and essential player we have ever had. Glenn's stupid decision was bad for him, Gazza and England as a whole.

In fact I've heard that the FA wanted Hoddle out because of his continued ignorance of Gazza after the World Cup 98, and used his odd beliefs as an excuse. Come on Sven, Gazza is better than most of the players you keep fielding, so let's have him back!
Dave Y, England

Burnley's 'audacious' signing of Paul Gascoigne isn't quite as much of a gamble as it may seem. The team is short of some confidence after being without a home win in the league since the middle of December. Another twelve points from their last eight games should guarantee a play-off berth, and Gascoigne might just be the catalyst that enables them to get there and maybe beyond into the Premiership.

His experience with Middlesbrough a couple of years ago may also prove to be priceless. In addition the interest from the national media, as well as better gate receipts and merchandise sales all add up to a very calculated and shrewd move by Lancashire's waking giants of Turf Moor.
Dave Roberts, England
