The day started positively as Marcus Trescothick and Michael Atherton both battled to help England to 146 before Waqar Younis bowled Atherton just before lunch.

But the runs dried up after the break and England looked to be playing for the draw.

Saqlain Mushtaq spurred Pakistan to victory in the final session of the second Test to help the tourists seal a memorable victory.

England lost eight wickets in the final session, including a spell when four wickets fell for one run in the space of 13 balls.

I would like to congratulate Pakistan on a wonderful victory they deserved to win. Waqar Younis hats of too you and I would also like to say to the concerned authority that they should now realise that Pakistan deserves a five match not a two match series. Congrats once again and good luck for the one day series.

The manner in which this match unfolded is powerful testimony to the fact that there is no game like cricket. Notwithstanding some occasions of less than stellar umpiring, the margin of victory is sufficient to prove that England's lower order failed to provide a modicum of resistance against players who doubtless were hungry for a win.

Well done Pakistan and well done to England for putting up a battle. Again the crowd brought English cricket to the fore with it's party trumpets and flags and it proves that we can all get on with mutual respect.

Hope this collapse of the middle order of the English batting doesn't continue into the Ashes. Looks like concentration is wavering in the English side. England need Hussain back in the side asap to provide the 'grit' seen in the last four series.
