Did booze ruin City's season?
Was the booze to blame for Man City's dismal season?
According to the Sun newspaper, an unnamed player has lifted the lid on the drinking culture at Man City.

So was the booze to blame for City's dismal season?

The unknown player claimed the the Maine Road outfit was a pub team playing in the Premiership.

In the wake of Joe Royle's sacking, the training regime and discipline at Maine Road have also come under scrutiny.

Was the booze to blame for City's downfall this season?

Or were the players simply not good enough for the Premiership?

Tell us what you think.

Well, if I played in a team that were as awful as Man City have been this year, I think it would drive me to drink
  Jeff Scholey, UK
That is ridiculous! Big Joe would never let that happen to a massive club like City. Joe is an out and out professional. Man city are not a pub team. Every player should consider themselves lucky to pull on the Lazer Blue shirt of City. They know the prestige behind City, and I expect they would do everything to keep City in the top flight. We are a massive team, and we'll be in the Premiership again. Bring in Gary Megson, he's an old boy will understand the prestige and massiveness of Super City!
R. Palmer, Oldham,UK

Drink had nothing to do with a terrible season. The only thing that made Man City go down was the fact that they are a team of first division players. City a massive club though, they own 30 square foot more land than Manchester United...

Well they certainly looked and played like they'd had a few. But what happened to the days when great players like Best, Marsh, Robson etc could go on a bender the night before a big game and still pull off a great performance. Poor quality players is the problem not the booze.
Ian, England

The booze culture seems a little convenient to me. I think it is no less a problem than most other clubs experience. No, the real reason for Royle's sacking is a succession of under-achieving 'second string' signings, bought in a panic, who were just not good enough.
Glenn Southall, Turkey

The is no room in today's professional game for drinking. There is too much demand on the palyers for them to constantly hit the pub scene.
