The event will be broadcast on 13 July, the big Sport Relief night and it promises to be a very special occasion.

Sir Steven Redgrave, five times a gold medal winner at the Olympics, leads the list of contestants which also includes football personalities Gianluca Vialli and Dwight Yorke and winter Olympian Alex Coomber.

Ironically, Sir Steven appeared in the last televised Superstars event, 18 years ago.

Lisa Rogers will co-host the event wth John Inverdale

As 13 July draws closer, more information on the event, which will be presented by John Inverdale and Lisa Rogers, will appear on this website.

But if you fancy setting up your own Superstars event, why not consider whether you could compete in the following events.

  • 100m sprint against the clock

  • Football Challenge - race against the clock while dribbling a football between markers - or see who can score the most penalties out of 3 attempts, or keepy-uppy for the longest

  • Basketball Challenge - who gets the highest number of consecutive bounces over 20 meters

  • The Gym Test - who can do the highest number of Dips and Squat thrusts in a specific time

  • Highest number of rugby or netball passes between pairs of contestants over 100 meters without dropping the ball

  • Skateboard, scooter, roller-blading races against the clock

  • Tennis challenge - the quickest time over 100 meters bouncing a tennis ball on your racket, drop it and you're disqualified from the race.

The competitors are scored by the position they finish in each challenge.

If you have 10 people taking part, award that number of points to the winner, nine points to the person in second place and so on.

The overall superstar is the person with the most points after all the challenges have been completed.

Sport Relief is a joint venture between BBC Sport and Comic Relief with every penny raised will going towards helping children and young people in the UK and around the world.

A fundraising pack full of more ideas is available by ringing 09068 10 10 10. (Calls will cost no more than 1.50 which covers printing, postage and packing).
