Pato was injured during Saturday's defeat by Palermo
AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato has withdrawn from the Brazil squad for Sunday's friendly against Scotland because of a sprained right ankle. Villarreal striker Nilmar is doubtful because of a muscle injury but remains with the Brazilian party. Internacional's Leandro Damiao had already been called into the squad as cover for his better-known countrymen. And it was decided that Pato would not recover in time after reporting to the team doctor and being assessed. The 21-year-old Leandro Damiao, who has scored 13 goals this year, has yet to earn a Brazil cap. Brazil are preparing for the Copa America in July, but coach Mano Menezes said he is also using Sunday's friendly against Scotland at Emirates Stadium to look at his options for the 2012 London Olympics. "I'm taking advantage of the circumstances to summon a player who has been playing well with Internacional and is young enough to play in the Olympics," Menezes said on the Brazilian football federation's website. Pato, who picked up his injury in AC Milan's 1-0 defeat by Palermo on Saturday, joins club-mate Robinho in missing out against the Scots. Former Manchester City striker Robinho was dropped from the squad after captaining the side to a disappointing 1-0 defeat by France in their last friendly. Menezes has resisted the temptation of recalling the 27-year-old, or former Barcelona forward Ronaldinho, now playing for Flamengo and who was being tipped for a recall to the original squad.
