2200: Thanks for your company tonight. Remember, highlights of tonight's game will be shown on BBC One Scotland at 2330 GMT. We're back on Saturday for another bumper edition of Scottish Premier League action. Join us then!
2158: So, Scotland produce some entertaining football to see off the Faroe Islands 3-0. Before the game, Craig Levein said he hoped one or two players would impress at Pittodrie and at least that many may have given him food for thought for the rest of the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.
2154: "I saw some performances tonight that gave me encouragement. Winning was the most important thing. Danny Wilson scored a great goal, Bannan played well. It was pleasing; after the opening 15 minutes we settled down. I think the supporters appreciated the players' efforts. I hope the cynics will agree that it was worthwhile."
Scotland manager Craig Levein 2152:From PepeIsBetterThanIker_FalcaosRubbishHair On My Sport: "Good game for Danny Wilson tonight, not much to do defensively but still 1 assist and 1 goal for a centre back, is a very good return, especially on his senior debut. Looked very composed on the ball too. For the people saying 'It's only the Faroes' etc, the quality of opposition doesn't matter, Rooney's made a career of scoring against smaller teams!"
2150: "I think Craig Levein will be thrilled with what he's watched tonight."
BBC Radio Scotland pundit Craig Paterson 2149: Scotland manager Craig Levein trots onto the pitch to salute his players for an impressive display. The former Dundee Utd boss gives Barry Bannan a pat on the back as the number eight returns the applause of the Scotland fans.
2148: SCOTLAND 3-0 FAROE ISLANDS 2147: Scotland full-back Stephen Crainey tumbles under a Johan Davidsen challenge in the box - no penalty.
2146: Scotland captain Steven Caldwell builds from the back, feeding James McArthur and the ball finds its way back to Garry Kenneth: the Scots happy to run down the clock with a little over a minute remaining.
2145: The Faroe Islands enjoy their best period of the match, penning the Scots into their own half but they lack the invention to pierce the defence and get at Cammy Bell again.
2142: Keeper Cammy Bell keeps Scotland's clean sheet intact as he blocks Limahl-lookalike Joan Edmundsson's shot with his legs and the ball is hoofed clear.
2141: Scotland defenders Stephen Crainey and Garry Kenneth suffer a communication breakdown but a rare glimpse of goal for the visitors is lost.
2140: Substitute David Goodwillie is busting a gut to get on the ball but it's careering about the pitch like a pinball at the moment; all getting a bit untidy with seven minutes remaining.
2137: Tonight's capacity at Pittodrie has been announced as 10,870 - and they can't be too unhappy with Scotland's display.
2135: "The substitutions have disrupted the flow of the game and suddenly Scotland aren't as clever when they're on the ball."
BBC Scotland pundit Craig Paterson 2132: The Faroe Islands number 11 Joan Edmundsson cuts a frustrated figure as a rare attack fizzles out. He's sporting the kind of frazzled-looking blonde hairdo that would make Limahl and Rick Parfitt proud. David Goodwillie comes on for Kris Commons as Craig Levein shuffles his pack.
2129: "It's brilliant for these guys getting their first caps. Cammy Bell was playing for Queen of the South 18 months ago."
BBC Scotland pundit Allan Preston 2128: Phil Bardsley is replaced by Motherwell defender Steven Saunders as Craig Levein shuffles his pack.
2126: Just over 20 minutes remaining of what's proved to be an entertaining clash at Pittodrie. Can the Scots extend their advantage?
2124: Scotland substitutions: Craig Bryson comes on for captain Darren Fletcher and Cammy Bell earns his first cap, coming on for fellow keeper Craig Gordon.
2121:From 1Wattie On My Sport: "We are playing quite well and all credit goes to the guys who could be bothered to turn out for us. Sad think is that the "call offs" will all get places in the next pool at the expense of those playing tonight. I'll lay pretty good odds that the "injured" will make miraculous recoveries to play for their clubs this weekend."
2119: Shaun Maloney spurns two chances within a minute: taking the ball from under the feet of team-mate Jamie Mackie when the QPR man looked set to pull the trigger and then failing to capitalise on a poor backpass as his attempted chip drifts wide of Gunnar Nielsen's goal. Poor stuff from the wee fella.
2118: The Scots have a little under half an hour to add to their tally on what's been a decent night's work. Barry Bannan is a refreshing addition to the Scotland midfield and doesn't seem scared to run at defenders. Great stuff!
2117: Scotland's goalscoring debutant Danny Wilson appears to have suffered an injury and limps off. He receives a standing ovation and is replaced by Dundee United defender Garry Kenneth, who wins his second cap.
2114: Scotland go mighty close to added a fourth goal. Kris Commons engineers a bit of space on the left and whips in a perfect cross for Barry Bannan, who, Archie Gemmill-like, ghosts in at the back post but sends his header just over the bar.
2113: "Craig Levein's given the midfield a real freedom. Barry Bannan's popped up on the left and the right."
BBC Scotland pundit Allan Preston 2111: Uh oh, Blackpool manager Ian Holloway look away now. Captain and talismanic figure Charlie Adam is withdrawn with... not sure if it's an ankle or hip injury. He claps the Scotland fans as he makes his way towards the tunnel. Doesn't look as bad as first feared. James McArthur replaces the dead-ball specialist.
2109: The Scots are moving the ball about nicely, with Adam, Bannan, Crainey, Commons, Maloney and Bardsley all looking comfortable on the ball. Only Darren Fletcher has yet to find his passing range.
2107: Celtic captain Shaun Maloney is the only Scots-based player in Craig Levein's staring line-up tonight...
2104: Faroes goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen brilliantly tips away a rasping Stephen Crainey drive as the Scots look to add to their 3-0 lead. Wonderful stop by the busy keeper.
2103: Phil Bardsley gallops away down the right, playing a neat one two with Barry Bannan before sending over a great cross but there are no takers in blue to profit.
2102: No changes for either side as Scotland get the second half under way.
2055: Here's a wee stat for you to chew over with your half-time cup of tea and biscuit: Should Murray Davidson make an appearance from the bench, he will become the first St Johnstone player to be capped for Scotland since goalkeeper Sandy McLaren in 1932.
2049: "Craig Levein must be delighted with what he's seen so far."
BBC Scotland pundit Craig Paterson Scotland goal: Craig Levein will be doing a wee victory jig in the dressing room at the break. Barry Bannan's deep cross is headed back across goal by Danny Wilson and
Jamie Mackie whacks the ball home from a couple of yards with the Faroes all-at-sea. Bring on Brazil!
2046: HALF-TIME SCOTLAND 3-0 FAROE ISLANDS 2045: GOAL! SCOTLAND 3-0 FAROE ISLANDS (JAMIE MACKIE) 2043:From Rangers-FC-No1 On My Sport: "I think we are lacking a natural striker, we would have scored a few more if we had a Boyd or Steven Fletcher on upfront tonight."
2040: Goalscorer Kris Commons spurns a great opening, wide on the right, to send in a cross to the unmarked Jamie Mackie, as his centre sails out of play.
2038:... but
Jann Inge Petersen shows none of his earlier menace or composure as he sclaffs his effort well wide.
2037: The Faroes have a free kick, about 25 yards out...
2035: "Scotland are totally dominant in this match."
BBC Scotland commentator Richard Gordon. 2033: The Scots are turning the screw and midfielder Barry Bannan is keen to get in on the action. The Aston Villa youngster fires in a low 25-yard shot that strikes a post and bounces to safety.
Scotland goal: The House of Commons will be pleased with this one. Charlie Adam's corner is partially cleared but the midfielder crosses in to the near post and
Kris Commons is on hand to flick the ball home Lionel Messi-like. Great stuff!
2031: GOAL! SCOTLAND 2-0 FAROE ISLANDS (KRIS COMMONS 2028: Scotland, suddenly with a spring in their step, attack the Faroes again but the visitors block Kris Commons's volley and the danger is cleared. The Scots dugout is an oasis of calm...
2027: "It doesn't get better than that on your debut. "Wilson was over the moon last night when he heard he was playing and he'll be delighted right now too."
BBC Scotland pundit Allan Preston Scotland goal: A collective sigh of relief around Pittodrie as Scotland take the lead. Darren Fletcher's shot is saved and the Scots earn a corner. Charlie Adam sends in a great corner and
debutant Danny Wilson lashes the ball home from six yards. Craig Levein claps enthusiastically and doesn't lose his specs this time in the dugout celebrations!
2024: GOAL! SCOTLAND 1-0 FAROE ISLANDS (DANNY WILSON) 2021: "They've got two men up front who are physically strong, willing to go toe-to-toe."
BBC Scotland pundit Craig Paterson's view on the visitors 2020: Jamie Mackie bullets a header towards goal from Shaun Maloney's teasing cross but the QPR hitman is correctly flagged offside.
2018: Right-back Phil Bardsley is rampaging down the right, and with Maloney getting some joy down the opposite flank, you would imagine a goal's coming. Who's with me? Hello...anyone?
2017: Liverpool defender Danny Wilson mops up at the back, just as the visitors look to mount a serious attack. The Faroes are playing with two up front and are by no means "parking the bus".
2015: Barry Bannan is clattered in midfield - welcome to international football - and the Faroe Islands are snapping at Scottish ankles at every opportunity.
2014: "Miles better rendition of Flower of Scotland from 8,000 supporters at Pittodrie than 60,000 rugby fans at Murrayfield on Saturday."
Paul in Edinburgh does his best to rile the rugby fans via text on 80295 2013: "That's a terrific move. Mackie and Bardsley were waiting on the six-yard line, but Commons couldn't pick them out."
BBC Scotland pundit Craig Paterson at Pittodrie.
2011: Shaun Maloney dances away from a couple of challenges and his deep cross finds Kris Commons, but the Derby County winger's header back across goal fails to find a team-mate. Much better from the jittery-looking Scots.
2009: Hold on a minute, here. The Faroe Islands number six
Jann Inge Petersen thunders a 20-yard free kick against the bar! The visitors get a corner out of it, with Scotland keeper Craig Gordon claiming no-one in blue got a touch. The Scots eventually repel the danger.
2007: Shaun Maloney and Darren Fletcher trade passes in midfield but they look up to see a sea of white jerseys between them and Nielsen in the Faroe Islands goal. The visitors blooter it clear.
2006:From SpyIII On My Sport: "Should be a comfortable win tonight. Good chance for some youngsters getting a game and chance for some fringe players to stake a claim. Treat it as it is: a training match."
2004: Scotland manager Craig Levein, up out of his seat in the dugout and chewing gum like nobody's business, looks well up for this tonight...
2003: Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam sends a delicious ball wide on the left for the galloping Shaun Maloney, but the pint-sized Celtic captain can't keep it in play.
2002: It's a nervy start from Scotland as the Faroe Islands launch an early attack, but it fizzles out in front of Craig Gordon and the ball trundles out for a goal kick.
2000: We're under way at Pittodrie.
1959: Following the insipid, dour display in the defeat by the Czech Republic in October, Scotland redeemed themselves with a stirring effort in the 3-2 reverse against Spain. Will we see more progress tonight?
1957: "I'd like to see a convincing win for Scotland, but I'll go for 2-0 to Craig Levein's men."
BBC Scotland pundit Allan Preston 1956: Scotland and the Faroes have met eight times before, with the Scots winning six and two games drawn.
1955: Both sets of players trot out onto the Pittodrie pitch, with Led Zeppelin booming out of the PA system in the background...
1953: Scotland captain Darren Fletcher is upbeat about tonight's game at Pittodrie. The Man Utd midfielder made his international debut at the age of 19 - a goalless draw against Norway in 2003 - and he says the fresh blood in the squad gives the friendly some added spice.
1949: Aston Villa's young buck Barry Bannan looked impressive in last weekend's draw with Manchester United. Maybe he can be a new jewel in Scotland's crown?
1944:From stfc1879 On My Sport: "Swindon fans have been enjoying the novelty of Paul Caddis getting into the full international Scotland squad, even though he can't get a game for us in League 1. Though it is the Faroe Islands. (And it is Scotland)."
1942: TEAMS FROM PITTODRIE: Scotland: Gordon, Bardsley, Caldwell, Wilson, Crainey, Commons, Bannan, Fletcher, Adam, Maloney, Mackie. Subs: Bell, McArthur, Kenneth, David Goodwillie, David Goodwillie, Robson, Caddis, Saunders, Bryson, Davidson, Kyle.
Faroe Islands: Nielsen, Naes, Davidsen, Gregersen, Jacobsen, Udsen, Petersen, Lokin, Elttor, Holst, Edmundsson. Subs: Thomsen, Poulsen, Frederiksberg, Baldvinsson, Mouritsen, Levi Hansen, Juspinusen.
Referee: Paul van Boekel (Geboren)
1940: Scotland's opponents are 133rd in the world rankings, with all but four of their players plying their trade in their homeland.
Faroe Islands defender Atli Gregersen has warned the Scots - ranked 57th - not to under-estimate them. "I'm hoping people will look at our players and give them a chance; we have a lot of raw talent."
1936: Craig Levein has been keen to accentuate the positive in the build up to the game in Aberdeen.
"I can say 100% that this game will provide me with a lot of information. If I discover another two players then I will be delighted with that." 1934:From Middle_Road On My Sport: "I honestly and genuinely believe that this was a stroke of genius to play this game. I have no idea what teams like Scotland, Ireland Wales learn from playing Brazil or Germany, other than they have very good teams. It should be an open game with plenty of goals and I think it will be entertaining."
1932: Scotland manager Craig Levein hasn't had his troubles to seek ahead of the game in Aberdeen. No fewer than nine players withdrew from the squad and, with as many called up,
Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan and Liverpool defender Danny Wilson make their Scotland debuts. 1930: Good evening and welcome to our coverage of Scotland's friendly against the Faroe Islands at Pittodrie.
