Dundee United chairman Eddie Thompson has died, aged 67, from prostate cancer. BBC Sport looks back at his career at Tannadice. Eddie Thompson had disagreements with key Dundee United figure Jim McLean (right) over the years. But Thompson credited McLean as being an "absolutely fantastic" manager for the club. In November 2002, Thompson hands his footballing hero Paul Hegarty a contract as manager until the end of the season. January 2003. At the end of season 2004/05, Thompson appoints Gordon Chisholm as manager, having been in the post in a temporary capacity since McCall's sacking in March when United were bottom of the SPL. After just 10 wins in 38 games, Gordon Chisholm is shown the door by the United chairman, who appoints Craig Brewster to the hotseat. Three months after Brewster's arrival in April 2006, Thompson issues an apology to United fans for the team's poor performances. The United chairman enjoys some banter with the players as he joins them for the team photo in August 2007.
