Scotland's two-time snooker world champion John Higgins has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List. Higgins won his second world title in May after an epic with Mark Selby and regained his world number one ranking.
The 32-year-old from Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, won his first World Championship in 1998.
"There's not many in snooker who have got such an honour, said Higgins.
"I'm just delighted."
