Arthur won gold for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in 1998 |
BBC Scotland will broadcast Friday's decision on television, radio and online, with the result expected around 1245 GMTWBO interim superfeatherweight champion Alex Arthur hopes Glasgow will be successful in its bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Arthur said his gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998 was his "ultimate achievement".
He explained: "It's special because in my eyes you were competing for Scotland and at a worldwide event.
"Glasgow is a fantastic city and I love to box there. The sport fans, in general, will go to watch any event."
Glasgow will find out on Friday whether it has been chosen ahead of Abuja in Nigeria for the Games.
And Arthur said representing Scotland at the Commonwealth Games brought an added spice to his fights in the ring.
"The whole thing from start to finish - getting kitted out in your kilt and feeling part of a Scottish national team was a tremendous feeling.
"To compete for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games was by far the greater experience (than representing Britain at the Olympics) because you could wear the blue and people knew you were from Scotland.
"To win the gold medal just made it far better.

"A lot of people would find that quite strange - I've won four international world belts and a British Commonwealth and European professional championships - the Commonwealth Games still holds a special place in my heart.
"Winning the gold medal means more than the rest - why, I don't know."
Arthur, who defends his interim title against Stephen Foster Jnr at Edinburgh's Meadowbank Stadium on 15 December, also believes a home games can help inspire a generation of sporting talent.
"Obviously, we want to win a lot more medals than we did in Kuala Lumpur and I think in Glasgow we could really see the emergence of some top Scottish athletes coming through."
