Airdrie seeking new buyer
Airdrie have had a good season despite their troubles
Airdrie look like missing out on promotion to the SPL
A buyer for Airdrie Football Club is required urgently to save the club from extinction.

The club's administrators KPMG announced on Wednesday that Airdrie's future beyond the end of this season was in real doubt after the current preferred bidder admitted it was unable to confirm a timescale for buying the club.

KPMG said in a statement that any party interested in taking over the club would have to demonstrate access to seven-figure funding capacity.

Airdrie manager Ian McCall has also issued a plea for a serious bidder to come in to take over from New Broomfield Management Limited.

I don't think either party involved in the current deal wants to take this forward

He said he did not believe that the people involved with NBML nor those at Barr Holdings Limited, who own the club's stadium, really wanted to take the club forward.

Airdrie's future is secure until the end of the season, but beyond that, they are back in the same position as the previous two close seasons.

McCall said: "I believe there may be two or three parties out there who have the best interests of Airdrie at heart.

"The sooner the other people leave the situation, I would say probably the better.

"That is not to slag anyone off but I don't think either party involved in the current deal wants to take this forward.

"I wouldn't say I was confident but I do believe there are serious people out there with serious money who have Airdrie Football Club at heart."

Airdrie have been struggling for two years now to avoid becoming the first professional Scottish club to fold since Third Lanark in 1967.
