Accies avert strike action
Hamilton Accies' Ballast Stadium
Over-spending on the stadium has affected Accies
Hamilton Accies' game with Alloa will go ahead after the players resolved their pay dispute with the club board.

On Friday afternoon, the players received half their monthly wage by cheque and another propotion in cash.

The remainder will be made up next week.

The players had threatened to strike, thus missing the Second Division match with Alloa, if they had not been paid.

Promotion chance

Manager Ally Dawson told BBC Sport Online the situation had been resolved to the players' satisfaction.

"Everything will be finalised next week but it was important to get this game played," said Dawson.

"The players were desperate to have everything sorted so that they could play. They wanted to do it for the supporters.

"They never wanted to strike but they felt they had to take a stand."

Dawson himself has yet to be paid but he will be at the helm for a game Accies must win to keep them in with a chance of promotion.

The Accies were docked 15 points two years ago for taking strike action at a game against Stenhousemuir and were consequently relegated to the Third Division.
