Accies face player revolt
Accies celebrate last season's title win
Hamilton Accies won the Third Division last season
Hamilton Accies' financial difficulties have led to further player unrest at the club.

The Second Division side's playing staff met at their Ballast Stadium on Tuesday to be told that they would not receive their full month's wage on Thursday.

They refused to train and will not report for training on Wednesday.

Last month, players received only part of their monthly salary on time, with the remainder paid later.

Accies manager Ally Dawson admitted then that the club had poured too great a portion of its finances into the new stadium.

Non-payment of wages two years ago led to a player strike, which in turn led to the club being deducted 15 points and Accies were subsequently relegated to the Third Division.

Dawson told BBC Scotland on Wednesday that he was also affected by the latest measures.

"It seems that anytime we get anywhere, we seem to hit a problem," he added.

"It's particularly frustrating given the league position we're in. We'd hoped to get a good run in the last five games to give us a chance of going up."

Dawson said the players had been advised by their union, the Scottish Professional Footballers' Association, to act within the rules in response to the club's inability to pay them.

"I've advised the vice-chairman that I will be involved with the players at training and the management of the football side, but other than that I won't be doing anything until I get my wages," added Dawson.

"So when the players are in, I'll be in, but when they're not, I don't see why I should be."

It is understood that the club board is trying to reach an agreement with the staff to avert further action.
