Worcester Warriors gained a comfortable pre-season friendly win over an experimental Dragons side at Sixways.

Summer signing Alex Crockett got two of the home side's tries, Aleki Lutui, Jonny Arr, Matt Kvesic, Marcel Garvey and captain Chris Pennell also scoring.

Jonathan Evans got the visitors' only try, Rhys Jones kicking five points.

But the game was overshadowed by a dislocated ankle suffered by Pennell on 72 minutes, the game cut short at that point after both sides agreed.

The full-back was taken straight to hospital and faces an estimated six months out.

"It's a cruel blow for him," Worcester coach Richard Hill told the club website.

"He has had these kind of problems before. He has already spoken to me in the treatment room and told me he will be back.

"If it is as serious as it looks that will be a six-month lay-off for him. We would hope to welcome him back for the play-offs.

"The ankle is dislocated, but we managed to put it back in on the field.

"The doctor put it back in and now we wait to see what damage it has done. If he has fracture it is more complicated so we wait on the x-ray.

"Up until that point of the game it had been a decent performance, but what happened with Chris was so disappointing.

"We have other good players in Tom Arscott and Willie Walker, we are blessed with the back three and this injury means opportunities for other players.

"But for now all our thoughts are with Chris and we wish him all the best."

Kai Horstmann will take over as skipper during Pennell's lay-off.
