Ebbw Vale are relegated from the Premiership

Principality Welsh Premiership

Ebbw Vale have been relegated from the Principality Welsh Premiership.

Pontypool's 20-15 win over Newport on Wednesday night means they cannot now be caught, condemning the Steelmen to a drop into Division One next season.

Ebbw Vale are formerly one of the great rugby clubs in Wales but have fallen on hard times since the switch to regional rugby teams as Wales' top tier.

The Steelmen have been replaced by Tonmawr, the current leaders of Division One West.

The winners of One East and One West normally enter a play-off to determine which club replaces the side that has been relegated from the Premiership.

However, current Division One East leaders Uwic do not fulfil the Premier Division criteria which covers such things as player/coach development and facilities.
