Ospreys wing Shane Williams flattered by link to Toulon

Wales wing Shane Williams admits he is flattered by rumours of an offer to play for French club Toulon.

Jonny Wilkinson and ex-Wales centre Jamie Robinson play for Toulon, who are believed to want Wales' leading try scorer next season.

But Williams is keeping his cards close to his chest.

"Who knows what the future holds? But I'm happy playing my rugby in Wales and have been for the last 12 or 13 years," said Williams.

"It is flattering. [But] if I start thinking about where I'm going to buy an apartment in the south of France and how I'm going to look after my tan it could affect my rugby.

"I have obviously heard that there's a lot of interest down in the south of France, the likes of Toulon and so on.

"What I have to concentrate on at the moment is the Six Nations and Wales.

"It's in the back of my mind, but I am enjoying my rugby down there [at the Ospreys] that's why I have been there so long. I'm part of the furniture now.

"We'll have to wait and see. I have a 12-month contract left with the Ospreys. I love everything about the Ospreys. I love the boys. We are a close-knit team. At the moment I'm very happy."

But 33-year-old Williams, who has scored 50 times for Wales in 71 appearances including dramatic tries against Scotland and France this season, does not discount a move away from Wales completely, admitting he does like watching the French Top 14.

"I do enjoy my French rugby. I do watch the French league on telly. It would be nice to have some sun. We don't get too much in Swansea!

"I don't know too much about it [Toulon's interest]. I don't want to be one of those guys who say: 'No I'm not going to play away from the Swansea area'.

"I'm very much a home bird and always have been. I've had my opportunities before and haven't gone.

"But as far as I'm concerned I have to concentrate on Wales first of all and the Six Nations, and then concentrate on the Ospreys the remainder of the season and see where it goes from there."
