James Hook fends off Danny Care to score at Twickenham
Wales star James Hook says they must rekindle their attacking style against Scotland to bounce back from Six Nations defeat to England.
Hook made his mark at outside centre, scoring the try that brought Wales to the brink of victory at Twickenham.
But he says that attacking play came too late as Wales lost 30-17 in a game in which England scored 17 points while lock Alun-Wyn Jones was in the sin bin.
Hook told Scrum V: "We've got to take it to them from the outset."
The Ospreys utility back was making his first appearance at outside centre for Wales and believes they must seek to play in the manner that brought them back from 20-3 down to 20-17 before England sealed victory.
Hook also believes Wales have much to play for in the remaining four games in the tournament, starting against Andy Robinson's side at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.
Wales must bounce back - prop Jones
He said: "The boys are on a big downer at the moment, but it's a case of picking ourselves back up and playing the way we did in the middle quarter against England.
"We know we are capable of doing that and we've got to go out and take it to teams from the start and not just wait for them to score 17 points and then just realise we've got to start playing.
"We've got to take it to them from the outset.
"At 20-17 we'd played badly and were still in the game so we've got to take positives from that and that's what we're looking ahead with to Scotland.
"Two home games for us against France and Scotland - two wins there and sides are so evenly matched in this competition, who knows in two weeks time where we'll stand?
"With a bit of luck we'll have two wins and be right back in it."
Hook says taking their scoring chances must be a Welsh priority and felt comfortable in his outing in the number 13 jersey after previously playing fly-half, full-back and inside centre for his country.
Wales must move on - skipper Jones
In the absence of then injured Lee Byrne, Hook filled in at full-back during the November Tests.
He said: "That's the trouble - we're a side that creates opportunities, but sometimes we struggle to finish," he said.
"That's something we're always working on and we showed in the second half what we can do when we get a bit of possession and just relax and play a bit of rugby.
"Even when we went down by 17 points I thought when we created the chances and got the ball a bit wider we looked threatening.
"As we showed in the second half, when we did get that ball wide we created opportunities and scored tries.
"I enjoyed it. I felt quite comfortable there in attack and defence so it was nice to get the ball in my hands a little bit more than I did in the autumn."
