Bowe's versatility has been vital to the injury-ravaged Ospreys this season |
Ospreys back Tommy Bowe has been cleared of making a dangerous tackle in the 7-62 Heineken Cup win in Viadana at a disciplinary hearing in Dublin. Bowe was cited for his tackle on the Italian side's wing Kaine Robertson. But he can now play as the Ospreys host Viadana in the return match at the Liberty Stadium, Swansea, on Saturday. British and Irish Lions and Ireland star Bowe has been a vital presence for the Ospreys, his versatility especially valuable in an injury-ravaged season. The Liberty Stadium side will be desperate to retain his services for the busy Christmas fixture list. | 606: DEBATE |
Backs Barry Davies, Shane Williams, Mike Phillips, Tom Isaacs and Lee Byrne are on the lengthy casualty list at the Welsh region. The hearing will take place in Dublin, with a 1600 GMT start scheduled, and an ERC statement on Bowe read: "The citing lodged by the citing commissioner for the match, Iain Goodall (Scotland), is for a dangerous tackle (lifting a player from the ground and either dropping or driving that player's head and/or upper body first into the ground whilst the player's feet are off the ground) on Viadana wing Kaine Robertson in contravention of Law 10.4 (i)."
