Thomas banned after punch
Jonathan Thomas has replaced the injured Bradley Davies as a Wales replacement for Saturday's Test against Argentina at the Millennium Stadium.
Blues lock Davies picked up an ankle problem during Wales training.
Thomas, recently back from a ban for punching, has won most of his 48 caps in the back row, but has now displaced Ian Gough as first-choice Ospreys lock.
Scarlets full-back Morgan Stoddart has been forced out of the Wales squad with a hamstring tear.
Stoddart, who was a surprise call-up to the squad after his recent return from a serious knee injury, was not in the 22 for the Pumas game.
"Bradley suffered a ligament sprain to his ankle during training on Tuesday and subsequently has been pulled out of the match against the Pumas this weekend," said Wales physiotherapist Mark Davies.
"He will remain in camp and his progress will be reviewed early next week before a final assessment is made.
"Morgan has a grade two tear to his hamstring and he will now be in recovery and rehab for a period of up to four weeks."
Stoddart will not require any surgery, just rest and rehabilitation at his region.
"This doesn't have any impact on Morgan's former injury, it's the opposite leg," said Scarlets medical officer Mark Ridgewell.
Scarlets coach Nigel Davies added: "It's too early to say whether he will be fit for our big Heineken Cup fixtures in December and we will know more in a fortnight - but we can be hopeful."
