Neath's Luke Ford celebrates his try at the Millennium Stadium |
Neath claimed the Swalec Cup with a deserved win against battling Llanelli at the Millennium Stadium. Former Wales fly-half Arwel Thomas starred for the Welsh All Blacks on what was expected to be his last game before retiring. Kevin Farrell scored Neath's first try, Luke Ford and Gareth following him across the whitewash. Llanelli's tries came from lock Aaron Shingler and fly-half Luke Richards, but it was not enough. Centre Ford profited from flanker Gareth Gravell's switch pass to send him on his way while Farrell out-paced the defence from a scrum. But the individual highlight fell to Llanelli Schindler whose athletic 70-metre burst was finished off by dummying Thomas before crossing untouched.
