Adrian Hadley Former Cardiff and Wales wing |
"The Ospreys were second best in every department except the scrum [in their 43-9 Heineken Cup quarter-final defeat by Munster]," Hadley told BBC Radio Wales. | Positions with the Ospreys and Blues have switched |
"Most important was the collision area; the Munster back row were far superior as they justified their position as favourites for the tournament. "You would have expected the Ospreys to know about Munster's back-row ability and to have come up with a scheme to compete. "The Ospreys have to look hard at themselves in the mirror and ask if they gave everything. "Looking at the two sides on paper, the gap should not have been that big. | 606: DEBATE |
"The Ospreys' kicking was poor, the back line looked laboured, they were not running from depth and just couldn't break down Munster at all. "They definitely missed Lee Byrne, but you can't rely on one player. "You would say that this is the end of the season for the Ospreys. "Mathematically they are in the Magners League, but not with the way that Munster are playing - they will want the double. "It's been a difficult year for the Ospreys with things going on off the park and obviously a lot of players away on international duty. | The buck has to stop with the people who put [the Ospreys coaching team] in place |
"You would have to be in camp to know what's going on and I don't think that anyone's going to break ranks. "The buck has to stop with the people who put the coaching team in place... is it a case of too many cooks? "It's certainly not a happy ship. "The positions with the Ospreys and the Blues have switched. "The Blues have grown, they've become street-wise and hard, they want to fight for each other and for the shirt. "Two years ago the Ospreys were like that and they battered the Blues in the EDF Energy Cup semi-final. "It's gone full circle now, the Ospreys have lost that edge and the Blues are the real deal. Hadley says the sides are polar opposites to what they were in 2007 |
"They will be overwhelming favourites for the EDF final against Gloucester - although that may not be a good thing. "They will not have been worried about who they faced in the Heineken Cup semi-final, although Leicester will be a difficult nut to crack. "My money's on a Blues v Munster Heineken Cup final in Edinburgh in May. "The Ospreys need to take a long, hard look at themselves. "I wouldn't be pointing the finger at coaches Sean Holley and Jonathan Humphreys. "They've had a difficult season, they've been in charge but they've known that someone is going to be coming in above them. "They didn't know when and they didn't know who, and they already had someone above them who they probably didn't want there in the first place. "Perhaps they've got too many cooks and no-one knows who the actual boss is." Adrian Hadley was speaking on BBC Radio Wales
