King recovery boost for Scarlets

Regan King tore a hamstring against Leinster

The Scarlets have been boosted by the news their star centre Regan King will not be out for the rest of the season.

King was carried off against Leinster last month with a serious tear in his hamstring which affected his walking.

But he has made a better than expected recovery and is hoping to be fit for the Scarlets' Magners League clash with the Ospreys in April.

Coach Nigel Davies said they had thought the injury was a lot more serious than it turned out to be.

"Having had the scans, he is recovering well," Davies added.

"He is walking again. Having thought that it could have been a lot worse we are quite pleased with the progress he has made."

Meanwhile, the Scarlets have confirmed they are in talks to return full-back Barry Davies and scrum-half Liam Davies to the region from French club Brive.

"We are trying to get the balance of the squad right for next year," revealed Davies.

"We do need to freshen things up. We are speaking to both of them. Nothing has been finalised but they are two of quite a few people we are looking at."
