Wales U21 international Davies joined Neath from Galwegians |
Promising Neath prop Ross Davies has joined Guinness Premiership side Sale Sharks on a two-year contract. The tight-head from Newport, 24, joined Neath last year from Galwegians. "The lure of Heineken Cup rugby was too much or I wouldn't have left Neath," said Davies, who has played for Wales at Under-21, U19, U18 and U16 levels. Davies joins Wales' Dwayne Peel, Brent Cockbain, Eifion Roberts, Marc Jones, Nick McLeod and Lee Thomas at Sale, while Kingsley Jones coaches there. | 606: DEBATE | "This again shows that this club's record of developing rugby players is second to none," Neath chairman Geraint Hawkes told the club's website. "I remember sitting down with Ross at the end of last summer and explained that if he worked hard and showed complete dedication that Neath rugby would develop him into a quality tight-head prop. "He took his opportunity with both hands and has been rewarded for all his efforts by being offered a professional contract with one of the top European sides. "I am pleased for Ross as I am for every player who steps up and wish him every success. "Neath is in the business of developing players for Wales and winning rugby matches and I am pleased to say that so far we are achieving both."
