Ravens swoop for fly-half Bowen

Gareth Bowen
Bowen has a brief to help develop Bridgend's youngsters

Former Llanelli Scarlets outside-half Gareth Bowen has joined Welsh Premiership outfit Bridgend RFC from French second-division side Aurillac.

The Mountain Ash man, 29, who has played for Llanelli and Neath in the Premiership, moved to France from Wales a year ago.

"We were looking for a genuine quality 10 and Bowen is in that category," said Bridgend director David Rees.

"Hopefully, he can form a major factor in the development of young Rhys Webb."

606: DEBATE
Bowen, who had earlier stints at Bedford, Bridgend and Bristol, made his debut for Llanelli in 2001.

He played 72 games for the Scarlets and made 67 appearances for Llanelli, scoring 1,218 points.

"Gareth has professional standards and I'm confident that young players will benefit from his experience, I know he is looking forward to playing with Bridgend."
