Gareth McCarthy crosses for Pontypridd against Aberavon |
Neath and Pontypridd will face each other in the Konica Minolta Cup final on 17 May after the All Blacks beat Glamorgan Wanderers 49-37 at Aberavon. The Welsh Premiership champions were too powerful for the Cardiff-based club in a free-scoring semi-final. Skipper Lee Beech, ex-Wales fly-half Arwel Thomas, flanker James Merriman and centre Jonathan Spratt were outstanding for Rowland Phillips' side. On Saturday Pontypridd overcame Aberavon 33-10 at the Arms Park. Tries from Gavin Dacey, Gareth McCarthy Kristian Baller and Chris Clayton helped Pontypridd to victory. Aberavon got a penalty try after Pontypridd collapsed a scrum. The rest of Aberavon's points came from fly-half Ricky Thomas while McCarthy and Baller shared Pontypridd's kicks.
