Roberts only broke into the Blues team this season |
Cardiff Blues full-back Jamie Roberts could not hide his delight at winning his first Wales cap after being picked to start against Scotland on Saturday. "I am chuffed to bits," said the 21-year-old, who only broke into the Blues side this season.
"I don't think it will sink in until Saturday when I run out on the pitch.
"At the start of the season I could only have dreamed of playing alongside these guys and to actually be there now is almost surreal."
Roberts admits he cannot wait to get on to the pitch after being an unused squad member in Wales' 26-19 win over England at Twickenham last weekend.
But he insists he will be keeping a level head.
"Twickenham was a real eye-opener for me," said Roberts.
"I remember looking around the stadium afterwards, seeing what I like. It was something special and now I can only dream to have been part of.
"Hopefully on Saturday I will realise that dream and play well as part of the team and bring home another victory.
"But I have to put my feet back on the ground. I have just got to focus and get myself up to speed with everything the team are doing, then go out Saturday and not let the occasion get to me, but enjoy it."
