Dai Young has criticised Wales caretaker coach Nigel Davies |
Cardiff Blues coach Dai Young has called Nigel Davies' criticism of his team selection as 'feeble.' Wales caretaker coach Davies is concerned at the lack of young talent being given an opportunity to develop.
In particular he is concerned that the recently retired Martyn Williams is currently playing ahead of the up and coming Robin Sowden-Taylor.
Davies claims that the regions have their 'own agenda' while Young feels those claims are a 'poor statement.'

Speaking on Young's decision to play Williams ahead of Sowden-Taylor, Davies said: "It is an area we have concerns and we can't hide from that fact.
"This is the problem we have with the current set up in Wales.
"There is a definitely an international agenda and a regional agenda and the sooner we can come to some sort of harmony then the better that will be for the Wales cause."
But Young feels that comment is unfair, especially in the case of Sowden-Taylor.

"It is feeble," said Young.
"We've played nine games and Robin has played seven and we have DVD's of all of them
"So if he doesn't know how well he can play now and it is going to be reactive to one game then I think that is a poor statement really."
Young was more complimentary of Davies' decision to name Blues prop Gethin Jenkins as Wales captain for the game against South Africa on 24 November.
He said: "It is a good choice as he is young and will be around for the next World Cup.
"The good thing is I don't think we have seen the best of Gethin and maybe the responsiblity of captaining Wales can push him to another level."
