Mike Phillips should play against Fiji says Gareth Edwards |
Wales legend Gareth Edwards feels that Mike Phillips should play against Fiji in Saturday's winner-takes-all Pool B clash in Nantes. Dwayne Peel and Phillips are battling it out for the number nine jersey after fine performances for their country in the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
Phillips in particular starred against Japan last week and Edwards feels he has the edge.
"It will be physical so straight away you say play Mike Phillips," he said.

"It is great to have two competent and in many ways different in style scrum-halves.
"In many ways it depends on what sort of style [coach] Gareth Jenkins wants to play.
"Mike Phillips has a physical edge so you say start him so he can take the bashing around the scrum.
"And then when the game starts to break up then you bring Dwayne Peel on towards the end.
"Fiji know this is a game they have to win and what you don't want to do is try and play them at their game."

Edwards won 53 caps for Wales, including 13 as captain and is widely regarded as the greatest ever scrum-half in world rugby.
The Wales legend is well aware of the danger Fiji pose and has urged Jenkins' men to stick to the 'Welsh Way' ahead of their must-win clash with Fiji.
"We need to set the stall out, control the set-piece and dictate the way the game is played," he said.
"What you don't want to is take them on at close quarters and play a physical game. We need to stick to our game.
"We need to play this fast game and the 'Welsh Way' as Gareth describes it.
"We can't give them an inch as they will exploit it."
