 Jenkins says New Zealand have shown Wales the way forward |
Wales coach Gareth Jenkins admitted his side were outclassed by New Zealand at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday. "It was a hard lesson, simple as that," he said after the 45-10 defeat.
"We came with a big belief, we felt as though we could be competitive, but we'd lost the game by half-time.
"But it was probably a lesson we needed to learn and the squad has realised there is another degree of intensity and physicality, particularly in the contact area, that we have to develop."
Wales captain Stephen Jones said he was bitterly disappointed at such a heavy defeat but paid credit to the New Zealand performance.
"They're very efficient, they set high standards and that's why they're the best team in the world," Jones said.
"We'll do our best as a squad to raise standards and hopefully come the Six Nations we'll be prepared to perform at a higher standard.
"The intensity we experienced out there is something we don't experience all year and somehow we need to generate that in our domestic competition and in Europe."
