Evans (right) says the Scarlets' back line has helped his progress |
Llanelli Scarlets inside centre Gavin Evans is confident of being able to ease into international rugby. "Getting the Wales call is amazing news, it's every boy's dream," said the 22-year-old, the only uncapped player in Wales' 32-man autumn Test squad.
"I've shown I can move up the levels, from the Llanelli club side to the Scarlets. I dealt with that pressure, now I'm ready for the highest level.
"My form has been brilliant this year after shoulder trouble last year."
Scarlets wing Mark Jones, who joins Evans in the national squad for the November series beginning against Australia on 4 November, is also confident in the ability of the Llangennech youngster.
"I spent a lot of time with Gavin last year when he was going through rehabilitation on his shoulder and I was having work done on my knee," Jones told BBC Sport Wales.

"He has always been a player with a huge amount of talent, but in that time out he concentrated on his skills and his physical development.
"Gavin has the ability to do anything, he has the passing, running and kicking skills to compete with the best - he reminds me of [ex-Wales and Llanelli centre and current national attacking coach] Nigel Davies.
"He's maturing nicely and has his feet on the ground - he has huge potential and the right attitude."
Nigel Davies is clearly a fan of the 6ft 3ins, 15st 10lbs Evans, as is another ex-Wales inside centre, Scott Gibbs.
"Evans is head and shoulders above every other candidate for the Wales number 12 jersey at the moment and deserves a shot this autumn," said the Lions legend.
"He has demonstrated all the attributes a good centre needs with good hands, good vision and he is very robust in defence - saying he is too inexperienced is rubbish.
"You would like to think your 10 and 12 have a good understanding and he has that with his regional team-mate Stephen Jones."
Scarlets director of rugby Phil Davies says that the emergence of Ysgol y Stade School-product Evans is a testimony to the region's youth development policy.

"We have such a talented academy here, there seems to have been a real purple patch with players like Gavin, Ken Owens, Lou Reed, Dominic Day, Jon Davies, Martin Thomas and Morgan Stoddart," said Davies.
"Gavin has an old head on young shoulders. He has a great temperament and the technical ability, those are the keys for any rugby player."
Evans was pleased to pay tribute to his team-mates and coaches at Stradey Park.
"Phil Davies has given me the confidence to go out and play my game," said Evans.
"We have one of the best back lines in Europe at the Scarlets, with Lions at nine [Dwayne Peel] and 10 [Stephen Jones] and perhaps the best centre in the world in Regan King.
"[New Wales captain] Stephen has helped so much bringing me on. He's a Lion with 56 Wales caps, you can't ask for better than that."
