Williams will be out of action until the new year |
Blues back Rhys Williams and Dragons prop Rhys Thomas are out of contention for Wales' four autumn internationals. Tight-head Thomas, 24, who won his first cap against Argentina in the summer, has a chest problem and has been told to rest for six weeks.
Full-back-cum-wing Williams, 26, tore the muscle off his thigh bone in his comeback game from a hip injury against Ulster last Saturday.
Wales name their captain and 30-man squad for the Tests next Wednesday.
 | This is my first long lay off due to injury |
"It's very frustrating but it's part and parcel of the modern game," said Cardiff-man Williams, who has 44 Wales caps but lost his national squad place last season.
"This will be the first time I will miss the start of the Heineken Cup since I joined Cardiff in 1999.
"I wish the boys all the best and I'll be cheering them on 100%.
"In a way I have been lucky as this is my first long lay-off due to injury, I've had a couple of niggles over the season but nothing this serious."
