Parker appears ready to play for Wales again |
Sonny Parker has given his first indication that he is ready to make himself available for Wales again. The 29-year-old showed what Wales have missed since his retirement in January with a two-try display in the Ospreys' win over Gloucester on Friday night.
And when asked if he was ready to return to the international fold, the centre said: "It depends if (Wales coach) Gareth Jenkins wants me.
"I guess it's up to the (Ospreys) coaches to decide as well."
Jenkins, who will soon name his squad for the November Tests, has already made it clear he wants Parker to resurrect his Wales career.
Wales are short of midfield choices, with the likes of Tom Shanklin and Hal Luscombe fighting their way back from long-term injuries.
And earlier this month, Jenkins said: "I'll be speaking to Sonny. You always want as many options as possible and I need to know, either way, if he is available for Wales.
"We haven't got many options at 12. If you look across the regions, we have young Gavin Evans at the Scarlets, who is in the first season of regional rugby.
"Then you have Gavin Henson at the Ospreys, but there really isn't an option at the Blues or the Dragons.
"Ceri Sweeney is obviously at the Dragons, but he can play 10 or 12."
Parker shocked Welsh rugby by retiring from the national side just days before he was set to be named in last season's Grand Slam squad, claiming he could not give his full commitment to the Wales cause.
Parker described it as "the hardest decision of my life", but said he wanted to start planning for a career after rugby.
He won the last of his 18 caps in last November's 24-22 win over Australia in Cardiff.
