The WRU did not replace former boss David Moffett |
Peter Griffiths is the latest name to be touted as the possible successor to Welsh Rugby Union group chief executive David Moffett. The Principality Building Society chief executive, 47, has been in his current position since 2002.
Headhunting firm Odgers Ray & Berndtson are leading the WRU's search.
"We anticipate the selection and interview process will take place in August and September," said WRU head of group services Tim Burton.
The appointment will need to be made before the WRU's Annual General Meeting on Sunday, 24 September.
Former Wales fly-half Gareth Davies is the favourite for the job, thought to be worth around 280,000 per annum.
Davies' CV includes a spell as Cardiff RFC chief executive, he is a former head of BBC Wales Sport, and he was chairman of the Sports Council for Wales.
He is currently Welsh Affairs Director of the Royal Mail Group and commissioning editor of S4C.
