Gary Powell left the Arms Park three years ago |
Cardiff Blues are set to sign Gloucester tight-head prop Gary Powell at the end of the season. The Welshman - equally adept at loose-head - left Cardiff RFC three years ago for Leeds before moving to the west country last summer.
Wales Under-21 international Powell, 26, trained with the national squad last autumn and is keen to return home to boost his Wales ambitions.
Ben Evans and Martin Jones are the first-choice tight-heads at the Blues.
In his previous stint at the Arms Park, Church Village-born Powell was a regular in the Cardiff RFC squad before a serious neck injury interrupted his career.
It is understood that Llanelli Scarlets were also keen on Powell, as they continue to seek a long-term replacement for veteran tight-head John Davies.
