Jones' shoulder surgery a success
Ryan Jones aggravated his shoulder injury in October
Wales and Ospreys back row Ryan Jones has had successful reconstructive surgery on his shoulder.

The 24-year-old, one of the stand-out performers during last summer's Lions tour, is aiming to return to playing by next September.

"The surgeon was very happy with the way the surgery went," Jones told the South Wales Evening Post.

"I'm just glad to get the operation over with. It was the first hurdle, if you like, on my comeback trail."

Jones injured his shoulder joint after returning from the Lions tour to New Zealand and aggravated the injury in his first appearance of the season in October for the Ospreys.

Now the 6ft 5in powerhouse says he must rest for two months to allow the healing process to take hold, and only then get back in the gym.

"The challenge for me now is to stay patient. The problem is I'm a very active person, yet now I'm in the house all day doing nothing," Jones added.

"I'm not the first sportsperson to be sidelined through injury and I certainly won't be the last.

"I just have to deal with the situation and try to stay positive."
