Canada and Newport Gwent Dragons prop Rod Snow will end his playing career at the end of the current campaign. Snow, 34, who has been at Rodney Parade for 10 years and won 55 international caps, is expected to return to Canada.
"It was a difficult decision, it's been an honour and privilege to play for Newport and the Dragons," said Snow.
Dragons chief executive Andy Marinos said: "I cannot speak highly enough of Rod. He is a player you always want in your side, he will be sorely missed."
Snow has a degree in sports science and plans to pursue a career in strength and conditioning work when he retires.
"I am hoping that I will have the opportunity to draw on my university degree and do some strength and conditioning work and coaching," said the prop.
"I have had a fantastic year and testimonial season and feel now is the time to retire when I am still near the top of my game.
"I do not want to play at a standard that's below what I expect from myself and I can leave knowing that I am finishing at the top."
A testimonial game for Snow will be played at Rodney Parade on Friday, 20 May (1915 BST). Gary Teichmann, Gareth Rees and Shane Howarth are amongst the names confirmed for the match.
