Yapp has impressed in this season's Six Nations
John Yapp has signed a new two-year contract with the Cardiff Blues.

The 21-year-old loose-head burst onto the international scene in this Six Nations, impressing as an impact replacement in Wales' three wins.

"John is such an exciting prospect who is already playing at Wales standard," Blues coach Dai Young told BBC Sport.

"There was a lot of interest from other regions and English clubs who were throwing money at him," added the ex-Wales and Lions prop.

Yapp has made 59 senior appearances for Cardiff and the Blues since his debut just over two years ago.

"Having come up through the ranks with Cardiff youth and under-21s, I am delighted to be staying with the Blues," said Yapp.

"I can only benefit from staying here and continuing to be coached in my position by Dai Young."

Yapp's next appearance is due to be for the northern hemisphere against the southern hemisphere in the Tsunami Relief Match at Twickenham on Saturday.
