Adrian Cashmore has won two caps for New Zealand |
The Ospreys have signed former All Black Adrian Cashmore and fellow New Zealander Damian Karauna. The injury-hit Welsh region has finalised a two-year contract with Cashmore, while Karauna is on a deal until the end of the season.
Full-back Cashmore, 32, has played for the All Blacks, New Zealand Maori and the New Zealand Sevens side.
Karauna, 30, is another Kiwi Sevens star from the Waikato region and plays either at wing, centre or full-back.
Both players were registered in the Ospreys' Heineken Cup squad ahead of Friday's deadline.
Cashmore has been playing for Bay of Plenty in New Zealand's National Provincial Championship this season and the former Blues player was part of the Chiefs Super 12 side during last year's competition.
The goal-kicking back, who only won two caps for the All Blacks because of the form of Christian Cullen, has previously played club rugby in Japan.
Ospreys manager Derwyn Jones said: "Adrian has pace, is an accomplished goal-kicker and all-round footballer who would have won a sackfull of All Blacks caps were it not for Christian Cullen.
"He an excellent professional and I am sure our younger players will learn a lot from him.
"Damien has been a star of the New Zealand Sevens circuit for a number of years.
"He has Super 12 experience with the Hurricanes and Chiefs and he comes to Wales with a reputation as a skilled and exciting player."
Wales and Lions stars Gavin Henson, Shane Williams, Ryan Jones all missed the Ospreys' Anglo-Welsh Powergen Cup debut this weekend through injury.
Henson will not return to action until December following groin surgery, while rising centre star David Bishop is out for the season after fracturing his kneecap.
