Lions and Wales wing Shane Williams is targeting the Heineken Cup and autumn internationals after groin surgery. "My leg is still a bit sore, but I have only just had the operation," he told the South Wales Evening Post.
"Fingers crossed, it's fixed now and if everything goes to plan it shouldn't be long before I'm back."
His Ospreys regional team are confident the 28-year-old will be ready for their first Heineken Cup game, against French giants Stade Francais on 23 October.
Williams follows his Wales, Lions and Ospreys colleague Gavin Henson in requiring groin surgery.
Henson, who had an operation in Germany last week, is also expected back in mid-October, while fellow Lion Ryan Jones' shoulder injury will keep him out for three weeks.
Next month's expected return of Henson, Williams and Jones should boost the Ospreys' Heineken Cup hopes, following a troubled start to their Celtic League season.
Dragons and Lions scrum-half Gareth Cooper has also targeted his club's opening Heineken Cup game - against Castres on 22 October - as his comeback date from an ankle injury.
Dragons and Wales fly-half cum centre Ceri Sweeney expects to return from his groin problem before that date.
Former Wales international Adrian Durston has signed a one-year deal with Italian side Viadana. The 29-year-old utility back was released by the Ospreys in the summer.
