McBryde and Jenkins have a wealth of experience to pass on |
Neil Jenkins and Robin McBryde have been appointed as skills coaches to groom the internationals of the future at the four Wales regional academies. Jenkins, who won 84 Wales caps and is rugby's world record points-scorer, will pass on his kicking expertise.
McBryde, who retired because of injury in August after playing 37 times for Wales, will coach the front five.
Both will spend time with the national squad to ensure the latest coaching methods are passed on to the academies.
They will become part of a 14-strong team of professionals working with the Blues, Dragons, Ospreys and Scarlets academies under the Welsh Rugby Union's Objective One funded Welsh Rugby Industry project.
Said WRU high performance manager Mostyn Richards: "Neil and Robin are both qualified coaches who were put through a rigorous and highly competitive series of interviews before their appointments.
"The fact that two such high profile international players are set to become part of our Academy project is fantastic news for the future of the game in Wales.
"Robin spent a lot of last season working with the Llanelli Premiership side, while Neil has been working with a lot of the best young kickers around the country as well as working with Cardiff Blues."
