Finau has been at Stradey for nearly seven years

"We have agreed to release Salesi from his contract to enable him to return to his home in Brisbane," said Scarlets chief executive Stuart Gallacher.

"Sal has been a great professional for both Llanelli and the Scarlets, and is one of the nicest people I have met."

Finau played 203 games for Llanelli and Llanelli Scarlets, and has scored nine tries for the new regional side.

Finau, who joined the club in November 1998, said: "I have had a truly wonderful time at Llanelli and have been very happy living in the town.

"I have no regrets and wish to thank everyone at Stradey who have helped me enjoy my time here so much.

"I am sure that the Scarlets will again become a major force in Europe."
