Easterby has been tipped as a future Lion |
Ireland international Simon Easterby will captain the Scarlets next season. He succeeds Leigh Davies who is taking a year off from rugby, and has made winning the elusive Heineken Cup his top priority.
"There's a lot of experience in the side which I'm hoping will make my life easier," said the 28-year-old flanker.
"We've got our work cut out this season with a tough European group and defending the Celtic League title, but we're a determined bunch."
Said Scarlets coach Gareth Jenkins: "Simon is the consummate professional and has the total respect of the whole squad as well as the coaching staff."
Meanwhile, former Newport, Beziers and Leicester back-row forward Andrew Powell has started training with the Scarlets.
