Scarlets director of rugby Gareth Jenkins has been named as one of the Lions coaches to work under Sir Clive Woodward. Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan and ex-Scotland coach Ian McGeechan will also be part of next summer's New Zealand tour as Woodward seeks a Celtic input.
Jenkins is expected to take charge of the midweek side with McGeechan and rugby league defence guru Mike Ford.
O'Sullivan, Andy Robinson and Phil Larder will work on the weekend team.
The news will be consolation to Jenkins, who controversially missed out on Wales' coaching job last season.
The present Wales coaching team are barred from taking a Lions role.
New England coach Robinson, kicking specialist Dave Alred and rugby league defence men Phil Larder and Ford complete an impressive and comprehensive list of assistants.
Jenkins will be part of the team aiming to become the second Lions side to win a series in New Zealand.
The first, in 1971, was coached by another Stradey Park legend, Carwyn James.
Jenkins was a player under James, part of the Llanelli side who beat the All Blacks in 1972, making his expected appointment an emotional accolade.
