The former owner of the now disbanded Celtic Warriors has launched legal action against the Welsh Rugby Union. Leighton Samuel has always maintained the WRU reneged on promises not to disband the Warriors when he sold them his 50% share in the region last May.
It is understood Samuel is not pushing for the region to be reformed but wants the facts of the case made public.
In a statement issued by his lawyers, Samuel also claims the WRU has failed to repay a "significant" sum of money.
The statement reads: "Mr Samuel has commenced court proceedings against the WRU as a director of Bridgend RFC (the former owners of the Warriors) and the chairman of Dcor Frame Plc (a former financier of the Warriors).
"Mr Samuel is also claiming that the purchase monies paid by the WRU were incomplete and that the WRU has failed to repay a significant financial contribution made by Dcor Frame Plc to the WRU.
"The value of the claim is well in excess of 1,750,000."
Within hours of buying the Warriors, the WRU had divided the playing squad amongst the other four Welsh regions.
As a result, a number of Warriors players and backroom staff found themselves out of work, a situation which Samuels says he was assured would not happen.
In a statement, the WRU would only say: "The Welsh Rugby Union can confirm that Bridgend RFC and Decor Frame have commenced legal proceedings against the WRU.
"The WRU has no further comment to make at this stage."
