Ospreys v Scarlets
CELTIC LEAGUE
Ospreys against Scarlets matches are tense affairs
St Helen's, Swansea
Sunday, 9 May
Kick-off: 1430 BST

The Ospreys host the Scarlets in the Celtic League on Sunday looking to prove themselves against the "best".

"Being the best in Europe means you must first be the best side in Wales and that means beating the Scarlets," assistant coach Sean Holley said.

"It is a huge game for both sides as the Scarlets are pushing for the title and we are still competing to secure the final Heineken Cup place.

"The players are all really looking forward to this match."

The Ospreys are just four points ahead of the Blues going into the penultimate round of the Celtic League, with the Cardiff-based side away to the Celtic Warriors on Friday.

The lowest placed side of the five Welsh regions will miss out on a Heineken Cup place next season and will play in the second tier Parker Pen competition instead.

Scarlets, meanwhile, sit top of the league by just a point from Ulster and two ahead of the Dragons, so Sunday's clash at St Helen's is equally crucial to the visitors from Llanelli.

"The players enjoyed playing in front of a huge Stradey Park crowd in our last fixture, and it would be nice if we could return the compliment at St Helen's at the weekend," Holley added.

"We enjoyed a great atmosphere against the Blues last time out at St Helen's, in a match also played on a Sunday afternoon, and I hope that will again."

Scarlets coach Nigel Davies is wary of the challenge posed by the Ospreys to his title-chasing side.

"The Ospreys are the form team in the Celtic League at the moment - the stats don't lie - and it is going to be very interesting at St Helen's," said Davies.

"Both sides know that a local derby like this comes down to who wants it the most on the day - and, as if any extra edge were needed, that is what could decide the game."

The Scarlets select Stephen Jones at fly-half, in the week that the Wales international announced his move to Montferrand.

Tight-head prop John Davies starts on the bench, with Canadian international Jon Thiel in the team.
