Ex-Wales second row Andy Moore has spoken of his heartache at having to quit the game at the age of 30. The Blues lock was advised to retire after taking an innocuous-looking neck injury against the Ospreys in March.
"The scan revealed degeneration in six areas of my spine and three vertebrae pressurising my spinal chord," Moore told the South Wales Echo.
"I was really up for a big season with the Blues and moving into Wales contention, I was not ready to retire."

Moore, a Welsh league winner with Swansea and Bridgend before moving to Cardiff last season, was born in Grantham and won his first international cap against South Africa in Johannesburg in 1995. He captained his country on the tour of Japan in 2001, and won the last of his 26 caps against Scotland in 2002.
Moore plans to devote his energies to his property development business.
"I am getting used to getting up and going to work with my sandwiches and flask, but I hope to do some coaching work with the Blues as well," he said.
