Andy Williams is one of a number of Welsh players to leave Bath

The 22-year-old made his Wales A debut in 2001 and joins the new regional side on a two-year contract.

Williams contested the Bath No 9 shirt with fellow Welshman Gareth Cooper, who has also returned back across the Severn Bridge to join the Celtic Warriors - the Pontypridd-Bridgend team.

"Andy is a local boy, with a great attitude and a huge natural talent," Neath-Swansea director Mike Cuddy said.

"We have been trying to finalise the deal for a couple of months and it is great news for the region that it has finally gone through.

"Andy still has a lot to prove but he is hungry and prepared to work hard.

"I have no doubt he will be pushing for senior international honours in the not too distant future."

Williams said he was looking forward to the new challenge after some difficult times with Bath.

"I wasn't enjoying my rugby there, a lot of things had changed behind the scenes at the club," Williams told BBC Wales Sport.

"I saw regional rugby in Wales as a chance to challenge for an international spot - and it's always nice to come home!"
