Cardiff snatched the points at the Arms Park with a dramatic injury-time win over Llanelli.

In an untidy opening period, only a penalty apiece from fly-halves Nicky Robinson and Gareth Bowen kept the scoreboard operators awake.

Cardiff's acting captain Pieter Muller scored the first of his two tries after 26 minutes when he capitalised on a two man overlap.

The home side then found themselves in the bad books of referee Paul Adams.

After sin-binning flanker Robin Sowden-Taylor for a tackle offence, he awarded Llanelli a penalty try when a five-metre scrum collapsed.

Bowen kicked the conversion.

Hooker Peter Rogers saw yellow after throwing Ian Boobyer to the ground after the whistle had gone.

But while still one man short, Cardiff regained the lead when wing Nick Walne appeared at Robinson's shoulder and sent Muller under the posts.

Robinson added the extras.

Llanelli began the second half with a forward drive which saw prop John Davies claim a try.

Bowen's conversion put Llanelli ahead at 15-17, but two more Robinson penalties soon restored Cardiff's advantage.

Prop Ken Fourie became the third Cardiff man to be sin-binned - their 28th of the season - for a high tackle on lively full-back Lee Byrne.

Ceiron Thomas kicked the resulting penalty, and then converted Sal Telley's try after Cardiff centre Matt Allen had a clearance kick charged down.

Llanelli had their own yellow card when hooker Adam Yelland was sent to the sin bin.

Yelland had a strong case for mistaken identity because Ian Boobyer was probably the guilty party for preventing a quick penalty being taken.

Cardiff took full advantage to send Walne over from close range and replacement fly-half Nick MacLeod kicked the pressure conversion to see claim the victory.
