Proctor's last hurrah
WELSH PREMIERSHIP
Wayne Proctor
Llanelli v Neath
Where: Stradey Park
When: Saturday, 17 May
Kick-off: 1730 GMT

Llanelli's record-breaking wing Wayne Proctor will make his 300th and final appearance for the Scarlets when they entertain Neath.

The Welsh international will take up a full-time post as fitness coach to the Llanelli regional side next season.

The Scarlets will delay naming their side until Friday because of problems raising a team.

Their Wales squad members are training with the national team in Tenby, and Martyn Madden and Chris Wyatt have also been called to the training sessions.

Simon and Guy Easterby, Luke Gross and Dave Hodges are away with Ireland and the USA.

Leigh Davies, Barry Davies and Matthew Watkins are all out through injury, meaning that coach Gareth Jenkins will turn to his Welsh-champion under-21 side for recruits.

We were disappointed with our last performance at Stradey - we let the club and our supporters down
Neath assistant coach Rowland Phillips

Neath will hope to maintain the pressure on league-leaders Bridgend, but memories of the 49-17 Principality Cup quarter-final hammering they took at Stradey in April will be raw.

The All Blacks have won their two games with Llanelli at the Gnoll this season, 29-13 in the Celtic League and 25-7 in the Welsh Premiership.

"We are aware that this is Llanelli's last home game and that they will be looking to put a show on," said Neath assistant coach Rowland Phillips.

"We were disappointed with our last performance at Stradey, as we did not do ourselves justice and frankly let the club and our supporters down.

"We hope Saturday will be different, as we still have high aspirations for this season and we have to keep the pressure on Bridgend."

The All Blacks will be without James Storey, resting after damaging ribs against Pontypridd on Tuesday.

  • Sean Holley has been confirmed as assistant coach of the Neath-Swansea regional side for next season.
