Madden fails to inspire Caerphilly
Neath 67-14 Caerphilly

Caerphilly crumbled despite playing Wales prop Martyn Madden
Welsh Premiership leaders Neath romped home with nine tries against bottom-of-the-table Caerphilly at the Gnoll, despite the visitors having the use of Martyn Madden.

The Llanelli prop turned out for the Cheesemen at the request of Wales coach Steve Hansen, who has watched his front row options whittled away by injury.

With Ireland arriving for next Saturday's RBS Six Nations match, Madden needed to prove he had recovered fully from a shoulder injury.

Hansen also has problems in the No 2 shirt, resulting in Neath being asked to field Swansea's 19-year-old hooker Huw Bennett as a surprise inclusion.

Bennett, who was in Wales's squad at last year's Under-19 World Cup in Italy, has been out for 11 months after a shoulder operation and ligament injuries but has caught the eye of the senior management.

Match details:
Neath (39) 67:
Tries: G. Morris, Durston, Storey, Tiueti 2, S. Williams, Tandy, K. James, Marsden.
Cons: S. Connor 4, Durston 4.
Pens: S. Connor.
Drop Goals: S. Connor.
Caerphilly (0) 14:
Tries: Tuipulotu 2.
Cons: J. Thomas 2.
Att: 3,000

Both players made it unscathed through the action, being replaced before the end, and must now wait to see if they are included in Wednesday's Wales team announcement.

Bennett had the better deal, as his adopted team were always in control and had cruised into a 39-0 lead at half-time.

Centre Dave Tiueti scored two of the tries as Caerphilly were run off their feet, although they regained some pride by scoring two tries in the last six minutes through full-back Sione Tuipulotu.

Caerphilly weren't helped by being a man down for a quarter of the match, with Tuipolotu - in the first half - and replacement Feao Vunipola - in the second - both sin-binned for high tackles.

Neath needed little encouragement to run up a mammoth total, with Steve Tandy, James Storey, Shane Williams, Gareth Morris, Adrian Durston, Kevin James and Sean Marsden all claiming tries.
