Scotland have named a 12-man squad after confirming their participation in the Sevens rugby event at the Commonwealth Games in October.

Seven of the players featured in the final, Edinburgh leg of the 2010 IRB Sevens World Series, while six of the squad have been capped at A level.

Scotland face defending champions and top seeds New Zealand in Pool A of the competition at Delhi University.

Canada and Guyana are the other teams in their group.

Six of the Scotland team are from Edinburgh and five from Magners League rivals Glasgow Warriors.

We are delighted that our participation in Delhi has been confirmed

Lee Jones, from Scottish Premiership club Selkirk, is the only member of the party not with one of the two professional outfits.

Scotland's participation in Delhi had been under threat because of some poor results during last season's world series.

But they will now take part on 11 and 12 October at the university's North Campus.

Scotland head coach Stephen Gemmell said: "We are delighted that our participation in Delhi has been confirmed.

"The Commonwealth Games is a major event on the world sporting calendar.

"Scottish Rugby and Scotland 7s are hugely honoured to be part of it.

"Our preparations will now start in earnest with a view to contributing to a successful Team Scotland in October."

Scotland squad: M Adamson (Glasgow Warriors), A Blair (Edinburgh), D Callam (Edinburgh), S Forrest (Glasgow Warriors), C Fusaro (Glasgow Warriors), J Houston (Edinburgh), L Jones (Selkirk), S McInally (Edinburgh), S Newlands (Edinburgh), H O'Hare (Glasgow Warriors), C Shaw (Glasgow Warriors), A Turnbull (Edinburgh).
